Global logistics company Kuehne + Nagel, through its Panama office, provided critical logistical support to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian supplies from the Red Cross in Panama to the Jamaica Red Cross, following the devastating passage of Hurricane Melissa.
The shipment, organised in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and transported by LATAM Cargo under its Avión Solidario (Solidarity Plane) programme, arrived in Kingston on November 1. The cargo contained 3,500 tarpaulins, 1,500 shelter tool kits, and 1,000 solar lamps, valued at USD 102,705, to assist families in western Jamaica – one of the regions hardest hit by the Category 5 hurricane.
In a statement, Kuehne + Nagel reaffirmed its commitment to supporting humanitarian logistics in the region. “We are deeply grateful to everyone working tirelessly on the ground, from logistics teams and airport staff to the volunteers delivering relief to families in need,” the company said. The company is represented in Jamaica by local agent R.S. Gamble Ltd.
